BROOKS & DUNN KICK OFF AUSSIE TOUR IN BRISBANE!

US country music superstars Brooks and Dunn kicked off their highly anticipated Australian tour in Brisbane on Friday. The duo, made up of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, blew the audience away with their spectacular show. The tour continues on Wednesday in Melbourne & then wraps up at Sydney's Acer Arena on Monday March 10. The duo will also be appearing on Channel Seven's Sunrise on Sunday March 9th.
Here’s a couple of Brooks & Dunn reviews on their first EVER Australian concert.
Well the boys from Nashville hit the stage for the first time in Australia in Brisbane tonight. The show kicked off in darkness with a loud long distance phone ringing ... it was the boy from Brisbane, Keith Urban, wishing Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn a great night in his home town. The show began with a blistering white light show and the lads were off and running. Four big hits in a row ... The sound was incredible and the band was exactly what you would expect from these multi-award winning country music legends ... Ronnie's voice was CD note for note, an absolute true pro. They couldn't get over the reception from the crowd and had contemplated before arriving in Australia 'what if nobody comes' ... Well it didn't take them long to realise that Aussie's have been turned on to their music for over a decade. When they performed 'Neon Moon' Ronnie Dunn turned the outro of the song over to the audience ... Dunn was absolutely floored when 'as one' the audience took the song out! He of course then in true Brooks & Dunn style repeated the last part of the song and took the roof off the place. They were truly amazed the Aussie's sung all the songs and knew all the lyrics. It was absolutely unexpected by them prior to arriving, however they had been informed by their mate Keith, from Caboolture that Australians 'love to party'. Overall it was a great night for country music in Australia to have the most acclaimed duo of any genre in world music history hit Brisbane Entertainment Centre. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about! Cheers ... Paul

After 16 years of listening to their albums, watching their video clips and dancing to their songs, I finally got to witness the great Brookes & Dunn live in concert last night! I am as happy as a pig in mud! ( Kix Brookes & Ronnie Dunn are American Country Music Superstars and the most successful duo in music history...not just country music but music of all genres! Just a note but Country Superstar Garth Brookes is also the biggest selling and most successful solo artist in history, bigger than Michael Jackson and Elvis, but still commercial radio keeps trying to tell us that no-one likes country music so they couldn't possibly make it a part of their programming! If that's the case, why did thousands of people buy tickets to Brookes and Dunn and travel thousands of miles to see them, with brisbane shows selling out in a day and might I add, there were soooo many young people there! Wake up and smell the coffee you idiot Commercial radio programmers, and perhaps just once get out of your bloody offices and go out into the streets and talk to real people about what they listen to! Commercial radio is a joke and now you know why i don't want to be a part of it anymore! Ok that's my rant - back to the show.... ) An awesome show all round with support from newcastle's prodigal daughter Catherine Britt ...boy can you see what 5 years living in nashville has done for her, so much more polished and a huge voice, ending her set with a powerful version of one of my fav songs Sweet Child o' Mine by Guns & Roses. Naturally i got excited over this and had to call Dave on the mobile (he was at the footy in sydney) so he could hear it - we were both huge G nR fans!!!) Adam Harvey came on next and didn't disappoint playing some favs and new ones from his latest album. What can I say about Adam that i haven't said before....It's such a pleasure watching Adam and hearing him sing, he just makes you happy. Then when the lights went down after interval, the ROAR that erupted from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre was unbelievable. Ronnie & Kix said they had no idea how popular they were in Oz until they saw how the shows in brissy sold out in a day! They were great and were astounded that we knew the words to all the songs, often letting the crowd sing finishing off lines - reckoned we knew the words better than they did. In case you are wondering, yes, we did get to do the Boot Scootin' Boogie!!! They pulled out all the old classics, even did an intimate sit down set and chatted to the audience and of course rocked the place completely! Kix had a bit of a go (jokingly) at a girl in the front row who kept talking to her mum on the mobile phone, giving mum a blow by blow description of the concert. Kix got the phone off her and then proceeded to chat to Mum, who by the way was listening in from Texas USA. It was hilarious! Another girl also got pulled out of the audience for a dance around the stage with Kix who then picked her up and swung her around and round and round so fast we were all dizzy just watching! Great fun! naturally the rest of us girls were all jealous that it wasn't us! After two encores (they would have gotten four easily) they left us dancing with Hard Working Man ( and I was right - i thought they would end with it!!!!) and smiling all the way home with a country rock song in our hearts! So was it worth spending hundreds of dollars on tickets, airfares, accommodation, car hire, food, parking etc to see these two legends in concert??? You Betcha! Look out Melbourne and Sydney - you are in for a real treat!
