JASMINE RAE BRINGS NASHVILLE AND AUSTRALIA TOGETHER - DEBUT SINGLE DUE IN MAY

Country music is often split into two categories - Australian and American. It can be argued that there are some significant differences in local and US recordings. So what happens when you combine the two?
Well, we are about to find out …
Recently, new ABC Music signing, Jasmine Rae, went into the studio to record four tracks - including her first single, to be released to media at the beginning of May - and did so under fairly unusual circumstances.
The session, helmed by leading US Producer, Richard Landis, included many of Australia’s A-list musicians, Rod McCormack, Matt Fell, Glenn Wilson, Mick Albeck, and engineer Paul McKercher, who recently completed his own project - the Chasing Bailey debut album.
With Australia’s leading steel player, Michel Rose, out of action due to injury, Landis was able to secure Gary Allan’s US steel player, CJ Udeen, for the session, during CJ’s one-day off on Gary’s Tour.
Louie Shelton, who played on The Jacksons’ tracks, ABC, I Want You Back and I’ll be There; The Monkees hit, Last Train to Clarksville, Boz Scaggs classic, Silk Degrees; and Lionel Ritchie’s Hello, also contributed his considerable talent to the session.
Richard Landis has produced hit singles and albums for US artists including Vince Gill, Eddie Rabbitt, Neil Diamond, Kenny Rogers and Juice Newton. It was only last year he first engaged with the Australian music market by recording four tracks with Steve Forde for Forde’s current self-titled album.
Forde and Jasmine Rae aren’t the only Australians Landis has worked with though. Landis’s very first album was Peter Allen’s now-legendary Tenterfield Saddler - a classic in anyone’s language.
Landis described Jasmine’s session as “one of great camaraderie, stunning musicianship and lots of laughter. Jasmine came equipped with far more than a great voice. She had cool production ideas and a really good understanding of who she is as an artist.”
Jasmine’s debut album will be released in September through ABC Music. Having already recorded four tracks with Landis, she will complete the album with producer, Mark Moffatt, in June after performing at Nashville’s 2008 CMA Music Festival.
Jasmine Rae is based in Melbourne and is the 2008 Telstra Road To Tamworth.
Jasmine Rae’s debut single is being released to Radio on May 5
through ABC Music/Warner Music Australia.
