2008 TRTT Songwriter Winner, Mark Wells. Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 JASMINE RAE WINS TELSTRA ROAD TO TAMWORTH. Jasmine Rae from Fawkner in Melbourne has won the 2008 Telstra Road to Tamworth competition with a prize package including a trip to Nashville to record an album. Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 TELSTRA ROAD TO TAMWORTH FINALISTS NAMED. The eight finalists have been announced for tonight’s Telstra Road to Tamworth Grand Final following two finals shows yesterday at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment & Conference Centre which have been described as "spectacular".

Telstra Road To Tamworth Established in 2003 as a vehicle to connect the Telstra sponsorship of the Tamworth Country Music Festival for 10 days each year in January, with a national, regional Telstra Country Wide footprint, throughout the year. It was designed to deliver a local outcome with an emotional connection to the Telstra Country Wide regional offices and customer base. Telstra Country Wide delivering the opportunity for local kids to chase their dreams. The competition format comprises a series of locally based heats as part of a national country music talent search initiative. Each heat delivers local winners who all come together in January for the Finals and Grand Final of the competition. The competition delivers an aspirational prize package to the winner that includes a trip to Nashville to record and perform, a video clip, publicity and promotion, live performances in Australia, a Maton guitar, professional photo shoot and offering comprehensive professional industry support to help them establish a successful career as a performer and recording artist. From it’s modest beginnings just 4 short years ago, The Telstra Road To Tamworth initiative is now considered by Telstra, to be one of it’s most valuable and productive sponsorship properties. With the continued involvement of our inaugural winner, Jessica Mauboy, and her appearances at the Telstra Road To Tamworth heats and events throughout this year, the traction for the competition with both the media and the general public is set to explode.
